#HumansOfREV | Davidson Fong – Software Develope #HumansOfREV | Davidson Fong – Software Developer “A moment that changed my life was when I had my kids, my first kid. It wasn’t a moment; it was more a span of time. It’s not necessarily the birth of my child, but the build-up, because I had to become someone new and I had to live in that new space. I am now responsible for this new being. Every category of my life had to change. The money had to change, the mindset had to change. The physical aspect had to change. Everything had to change. And, you know, the mom’s pregnant and I’m over here like, what do I do, you know? What do I do? It’s been about 4 years that I’ve been in dad mode and obviously I am still learning. It’s about building a nest; if you look throughout the animal kingdom, what does the papa bird do when the mom bird is expecting her baby? They build a physical nest. But in humans, it’s more than just a physical nest. That’s a beautiful thing about kids. They create this environment around them. It’s like springtime. Kids are like springtime, like when chicks hatch. It’s new beginnings. You get to become this new person. How you do prepare? Open mind, and then let it roll! It’s all these tangible things: I had to get my health up; I can’t be lacking on this. I’ve got to be physically healthy - not just look good, but feel good and be good. I’ve got to be emotionally healthy - in my relationships (building the village) and in my thoughts. Because I can’t fall, and my entire job is to just make sure that this person that’s coming up has every chance of survival.”

“My youngest son has a lot of food allergies, so “My youngest son has a lot of food allergies, so when he was younger, that limited a lot of the candy, food and things, he could have. I say candy in particular because when he first started going trick-or-treating, I felt so bad because we were getting all this candy and I thought, ‘he can’t have ANY of this’. That first year or two trick-or-treating with him I felt horrible, but thankfully he was too young to really remember. But I just kept thinking: ‘he’s going to get older eventually, and he’s going to be upset because they’re giving out all this candy and he already knows he can’t have any of it’. So I started a tradition at that time with my family that, instead of actually going out trick-or-treating, we all get together on Halloween and have a big party. We all get dressed up in different costumes, but we keep it a secret what our costumes are; we don’t tell my parents, they don’t tell us. So when they come for the party, we’re seeing the costumes for the first time. And I make special food. One year I made a Bigfoot Meatloaf (I shaped it like a foot), I’ve done Jack-O-Lantern quesadillas, I’ve done Scary Bell Peppers. It’s always some kind of Halloween-themed dinner I make. I decorate the house real good, we play scary music and watch movies, and we’ve got fog machines. We’ve got spiders and those Harry Potter floating candles. We have games in the yard and we build it all around the candy and food that I know my son can have. I wanted to do all I can to know he has a good Halloween experience and he doesn’t have that letdown of like, ‘oh, well, I got all the stuff I can’t have’ and get upset about it… no, everything on this platter is ‘Sean-friendly’. It came from me just trying to be a good dad and it turned out, ‘well, this is really fun!’” Rick Hicks – Compliance Analyst #HumansOfREV

“When I started attending my new church, the pas “When I started attending my new church, the pastor asked me if I wanted to take over the Women’s Ministry. I said, ‘well, sure, I can do as much as I can,’ and one thing I implemented because I loved it was a book club. So every Thursday I host a 2-hour book club and we go through many books, but more than that, the women who join us talk about things that are going on in their lives that they want to talk about. So I am very passionate about making sure that women have an opportunity to shut out their jobs and their families and have THEIR time, and it’s a safe space for all of us just to be really open and honest and very vulnerable and help each other. Many women have been able to finally share about times where dark things are going on in their lives and it’s helped them to get over what they’ve experienced and move forward. That energizes me because I feel, especially since it’s faith-based, it invigorates my faith and my purpose. It’s something that I think I was called to do, and it makes me feel good to be able to give back and to help women. My testimony of my past is pretty deep as well, and I think that when I start sharing that with other women, they feel safe to speak to me. Then I am able to really walk them through my process and what it took to heal and just feel good about myself again, so it helps me rejuvenate to remember where I was and where I am now. And it helps other women get to that point, too. I was inspired by that movie First Wives Club; if I could do anything, and if I had the money to, I would create that non-profit center they have at the end of the movie, and I would get all different people who want to help women in that way!” Anna Jimenez – North Carolina Area Retail Manager #HumansOfREV

“What you’re getting here: this is deep Paul. “What you’re getting here: this is deep Paul. I don’t usually share deep feelings… I haven’t been able to come up through the ranks raising kids, though I’ve been in 3 different girls’ lives as far as daughters - mine and 2 stepdaughters; and they all turned out ok. My daughter who is in Florida - I think I still have an impact on her. And the middle one, I got her involved in things, did things with her, you know, that my parents didn’t do with me. I was her t-ball coach, I went to all of her games until she was done with that, and then she got into cheerleading and I tried to help her with that. But I believe in traditions where parents raise their kids knowing right from wrong and beliefs that provide a strong moral foundation and sense of purpose. Teaching right from wrong helps children develop integrity, responsibility, and compassion, shaping them into good people so they can contribute positively to society. A belief system is another layer of guidance offering hope and a deeper understanding of life’s meaning. It connects children to something greater than themselves and instills values, humility, and gratitude. I see this kind of tradition as a way to create stable, principled, and spiritual-filled lives for future generations.” Paul Imbornone – Facilities Manager #HumansOfREV

“A moment that changed the way I see the world w “A moment that changed the way I see the world was our REV Day 2023 when @csingleton_2 came and spoke. It was specifically on his example of gun control and how - no matter which end of the spectrum you fall on that subject (I am not speaking one side or the other) - when you engage in conversations with someone who is passionate about something, knowing and understanding them and what got them there can remove so many barriers to our conversations. Just understanding where someone is coming from. It may be that we agree to disagree, but we’ve got to love each other through that. His talk really opened my eyes to the impact of understanding where someone is coming from and walking a mile in their shoes. I kind of don’t like the analogy of walking in someone’s shoes because we can have similar experiences, but no one has had the same exact experience. I don’t think we really ever have truly walked in someone’s shoes... but if you open yourself up to at least appreciating their experiences, it might help us in the long run. Just trying to be more aware and sympathetic, empathetic, to others - I guess not judging - not criticizing or condemning somebody until you know how they got to where they are.” Greg Anderson – Commercial Loan Operations Manager #HumansOfREV
