“What you’re getting here: this is deep Paul. “What you’re getting here: this is deep Paul. I don’t usually share deep feelings… I haven’t been able to come up through the ranks raising kids, though I’ve been in 3 different girls’ lives as far as daughters - mine and 2 stepdaughters; and they all turned out ok. My daughter who is in Florida - I think I still have an impact on her. And the middle one, I got her involved in things, did things with her, you know, that my parents didn’t do with me. I was her t-ball coach, I went to all of her games until she was done with that, and then she got into cheerleading and I tried to help her with that. But I believe in traditions where parents raise their kids knowing right from wrong and beliefs that provide a strong moral foundation and sense of purpose. Teaching right from wrong helps children develop integrity, responsibility, and compassion, shaping them into good people so they can contribute positively to society. A belief system is another layer of guidance offering hope and a deeper understanding of life’s meaning. It connects children to something greater than themselves and instills values, humility, and gratitude. I see this kind of tradition as a way to create stable, principled, and spiritual-filled lives for future generations.” Paul Imbornone – Facilities Manager #HumansOfREV

“A moment that changed the way I see the world w “A moment that changed the way I see the world was our REV Day 2023 when @csingleton_2 came and spoke. It was specifically on his example of gun control and how - no matter which end of the spectrum you fall on that subject (I am not speaking one side or the other) - when you engage in conversations with someone who is passionate about something, knowing and understanding them and what got them there can remove so many barriers to our conversations. Just understanding where someone is coming from. It may be that we agree to disagree, but we’ve got to love each other through that. His talk really opened my eyes to the impact of understanding where someone is coming from and walking a mile in their shoes. I kind of don’t like the analogy of walking in someone’s shoes because we can have similar experiences, but no one has had the same exact experience. I don’t think we really ever have truly walked in someone’s shoes... but if you open yourself up to at least appreciating their experiences, it might help us in the long run. Just trying to be more aware and sympathetic, empathetic, to others - I guess not judging - not criticizing or condemning somebody until you know how they got to where they are.” Greg Anderson – Commercial Loan Operations Manager #HumansOfREV

Some days leave a mark on your heart forever. Our Some days leave a mark on your heart forever.
Our time with @honorflightcfa was one of those days. 🇺🇸❤️ Standing alongside our nation’s heroes — hearing their stories, seeing their smiles, and witnessing their homecoming — was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made for all of us. We are honored, humbled, and forever grateful to have been a part of this journey. Thank you to the veterans who gave everything so we could live freely. Your courage will never be forgotten.
“A day I would like to relive is the day that I “A day I would like to relive is the day that I graduated from my GED program. I didn’t get my high school diploma. I had dropped out of high school for reasons beyond my control. I ended up in a not-so-good marriage and I knew that I wanted to do better. I was working at Hardees for almost 7 years and I knew that I wanted to provide more for my kids. Even though I was married, it was really like I was a single mom; it was always me and my 3 little musketeers. I knew if I wanted a better job, I had to be able to have my high school diploma or my GED. Every year on Live 5 News, I would watch the students walk the stage to receive their diploma and I would get really emotional. I would say, ‘why them, why not me?’ Finally I thought, ‘you gotta do this, Mariel, you gotta do this for your kids’. So I started attending GED classes and went part-time at my job… At that point I had been working full-time for AT&T and they did not require me to have the GED. But I switched from full-time to part-time and then I went to class while my kids were at daycare. Well, then my vehicle’s engine blew, so I had to get a new vehicle, which meant I had to have a car payment. I had to go back to work full-time and it made getting my GED go from 3 months to 8 months. I thought I was going to have to quit GED classes, but what I ended up doing was I worked full-time and then I went to night classes at Howe Hall Elementary twice a week. I would leave my full-time job, pick my kids up from daycare, and then 2 nights of the week while I did my night classes, my kids went to their own class at Howe Hall learning English speaking in Spanish. I ended up earning the GED and we did the whole graduation and I was the valedictorian! I am super proud of myself. There shouldn’t be any reason for someone to say they can’t do it. I ended up leaving AT&T to come work for this organization… and guess what? Here, I needed a GED — but I had just earned it. And I’ve been here almost 20 years!” PS Congratulations to Mariel for her recent engagement! Mariel Nichols – Retail Branch Manager | Rivers Branch #HumansOfREV

Good work.🌍 In honor of Earth Day and National Volunteer Week, we teamed up with the South Carolina Aquarium and the Charleston RiverDogs for our quarterly marsh cleanup — and WOW, did we show up! 💪🌿 In just over an hour, our crew collected 450+ pounds of trash from our local marshes. That’s 450+ pounds of cleaner water, safer habitats, and a stronger community. 💛 We’re proud to #UpTheGood every chance we get — and we did it in style this time. 👕 Check out our brand new co-branded tees with the RiverDogs, designed to promote #UpTheGood and our sustained partnership with Charleston’s team! #UpTheGood

“The birth of my first daughter and my first gra “The birth of my first daughter and my first grandchild taught me to appreciate little things and small moments in life that we seem to overlook. The older I get, the more precious I see that my time was, and you can’t get it back. So make the most of every moment… I appreciate it a lot more now than when my kids were little. I worked two and three jobs as a single parent just to make it. So I appreciate all the little slow down times. The one thing that I look forward to is watching my grandkids prosper. I am so proud of them. I want to be here long enough to watch them grow. That’s my bucket list: it’s to watch my family, you know, succeed in life. I’m so proud of them; I’ve got one doing track, one doing wrestling, one’s in gymnastics. They go with me to do food donations, they have worked at the food bank at church before. This granddaughter of mine, I’m raising my 5 year old granddaughter. This 5 year old - she’s going to move the world.” Leslie Roper - Receptionist | Headquarters #HumansOfREV
