Since April, the credit union has been engaged in the following initiatives:
Supporting the Healthcare Sector:
Healthcare professionals are working around the clock to help increase the survival rate for those impacted by COVID-19 in our communities. As a Thank
You, REV Cares has teamed up with local eateries each week to provide meals to employees of area hospital systems.
Supporting the Food & Beverage Sector:
The hospitality industry is one of the sectors most impacted by COVID-19. With many of those employees relying specifically on tips to support themselves, we have launched a “Tip Tuesday” initiative. Our staff is regularly providing hospitality employees with a $100 tip, courtesy of REV Cares, when they go out for lunch to pick-up a curbside or drive-thru order. This provides a direct economic impact to those individuals.
Supporting Grocery Store Employees:
Grocery Stores are one of the most critical businesses during the governor issued stay-at-home order. To thank grocery store employees and assist those who have lost a job due to COVID-19, we took over General IGA to host a Grocery Giveback. Store employees on-shift each received $100 as a Thank You from REV Federal. In addition, we worked with the store management to identify patrons needing a little extra help and covered their groceries up-to $100 per individual during the event.
Supporting the Animal Shelters:
Area animal shelters rely on donations and fundraising to remain open and support the needs of the community. Since COVID-19, these shelters have seen a Q1 decline in support of over 20% while the number of animals being accepted still continues to grow. This is putting a strain on these organizations, as they are faced with furloughing employees and a lack of supplies to care for animals in their facilities. To support these entities, REV Cares has donated $1,000 to Dorchester Paws and Pet Helpers that has provided each organization with an essential boost and alleviated the loss in donations by allowing them to continue operating.
These are some of the ways that REV Federal is giving back to our community. Over time, these initiatives will continue to grow and become more diverse as we set the tone for the level of impact we want to make with our charitable giving as we move forward. As an essential business, we are financial first responders that are ready to answer the call and help our members and community get past the effects of the pandemic.
