At REV Day, REV’s inaugural all employee event held March 22, 2021, REV team members came together to create specialty kits for the Lowcountry Food Bank and its partner agencies. Employees packed 300 kits totaling over 700 lbs. of goodies delivered to the food bank as a way to UP THE GOOD.

The service project initiated from a social media post that one of REV’s Employee and Community Engagement Team members came across. The post highlighted some “food for thought” when it comes to food bank donations, giving thoughtful suggestions for items needed to cook and complete meals that are frequently provided to food pantries.

In order for provisions to be shelf stable, food bank recipients often receive somewhat bland and repetitive items from food pantries and agencies. Think macaroni and cheese, tuna and crackers, pasta, etc. REV saw this as an opportunity to UP THE GOOD for Lowcountry families facing food insecurity.

Over the past year, more and more families are facing hard choices due to the economic impact of COVID-19. It comes as no surprise that more and more people are turning to food pantries during these difficult times.

Even in challenging times, everyone deserves to spice it up and celebrate. REV’s specialty kits offer that opportunity.

The Oil and Spice Kit contains vegetable oil, hot sauce, a multi-spice shaker, salt-free lemon pepper, and everything seasoning blend.

The Birthday Kit contains an Easy Cake Kit, candles, sprinkles, vegetable oil and applesauce. (For the kits to be shelf stable, applesauce is a convenient substitution for eggs. Simply replace one egg with 1/4 cup of applesauce in sweet desserts.)
